Independents are just delusional partisans, episode 12
Account for "pseudo-independents" and independent views of the economy look much different.
Liberal pundits have spent the morning anxiously circulating a chart from the University of Michigan:
No one is surprised, of course, that right around the election of Joe Biden a surge of Democrats decided that the economy is doing pretty good. Or that Republicans, at the exact same time, decided that the economy is doing terrible — giving us the hilarious red and blue X in the center of the graph. But what bodes ill for Biden, we are told, is that “Independent” sentiment towards the economy is also lagging behind Democrats; they “view the economy more like Republicans view the economy,” as Joe Weisenthal puts it.
But once again, I am begging pundits: PLEASE STOP TAKING “INDEPENDENT” AT FACE VALUE!
