Eric Schmidt is telling the truth about climate
The rich have no intention to solve it and the state isn't forcing them to.
Eric Schmidt, a billionaire who makes more money in 90 minutes than the average American makes in a year, can do way more than you can about climate change. He could invest his billions into research and development for carbon capture technologies or to subsidize America’s transition to green energy. At the very least he could just write a check to the UN’s Green Climate Fund and let them decide where in the developing world his funds would best be invested.
Schmidt knows that people like him need to act if we’re going to get through climate change. So when he says that we’re not going to get through it because nobody is actually acting, believe him.
“My own opinion is that we’re not going to hit the climate goals anyway because we’re not organized to do it,” Schmidt said last Tuesday at the Special Competitive Studies Project’s “AI+Energy” summit.
